Canor - “Let’s Slow Dance While We Wait”

seven years ago, my friends and I decided to start a band.

it was one of the best decisions of my life.

this is my newest song. it’s not 100% finished, I’m still gonna change/add a few things. I played it at practice on Thursday though, and Collin and Nick were like “you should play that on Saturday! just you. do it!” so I practiced it a bunch, then we ended up not even having time for it at the show, and I was like WAIT WUT, so in order to avoid new song blue balls, I recorded a video when I got home, and… yeah, here it is! check it out! it’s called “Salty.”

Andrew and I went to record last night. Andrew was smart and actually practiced a bunch, whereas I was just like “blargharahhh” and felt like a zombie all day until I chugged some tea. I did vocals, and he did his lead guitar parts, and that kid kicked all sorts of ass, and it sounds awesome, and it’s awesome, and singing is ~so fun~ and I can’t wait for you gaiz to hear it, because… it’s awesome. : D

the venue we played at last night was 21+, meaning our 18 year old bass player Nick wasn’t allowed inside except to load/unload and perform. lolz.

this is my 1000th post.

I didn’t want it to be reblog, or a link to something I found elsewhere on the internet. I wanted it to be an honest-to-goodness original post. so this is a demo of a song, that I wrote, and I’m playing, called “Steady Hustle.”

Nick (our new bass player) just got this neat little recording device, and since we always need a recording of the new song so the rest of the band can learn it, we thought it would be a fine time to test it out. it’s fairly sloppy/rough (we only did one take), but you get the idea.

I’m really happy with this song, and it’s definitely one of the most fun to play/sing, so… I hope it’s fun to listen to as well. : ]

dem lyricz:

I’m a new man,
I need a new woman.
still up in the air,
but I’m about to hit the ground runnin’.
I need someone
who can keep up;
not quite a mug,
but a bit more than a tea cup.
I’ve been sailin’ the world,
got wind in my sails,
but my search for gold
is all to no avail.
there’s a side of myself
that I haven’t seen in ages,
so don’t read between the lines,
you gotta read between the pages.
I know it’s all there
if you’d just look,
but it’s been so long
since I’ve opened up that book.
the paper has yellowed,
the cover’s dog-eared,
but at its core,
still a story I think you should hear.

oh, there’s always frustration
in this situation,
but I think I’m at an all-time high.
opportunities that I shunned in the past
if offered again,
well, this time I would give them a try.
excuse me for being so crass,
but it hasn’t been my year, to say the least.
and after having nothing at all,
the tiniest snack can seem like a feast.

by tomorrow night, I’ll feel better,
but for now, I’m just a little cold.
oh, I’m ready for a change, and I’m ready to live,
but it seems no one wants what I’ve got to give.
I think maybe it’s time to be a go-getter,
and stop waiting on anything or anyone.
oh, I’m eager to thrive, yeah, I’m rarin’ to prosper.
I need a little time, then I’ll make you an offer…

that you can’t refuse.

I’m on a quest
to redefine perfection.
got a lot of loose ends,
but I feel we’ve got a good connection.
if it’s right, it’s right,
and if it’s wrong, oh well.
some may think that that’s silly,
but I think you’re just swell,
and that’s all it takes
to keep you on my mind,
and at the top of my to-do list,
where you’ll remain for all time.
I just want you to come
and check out the sights.
let’s set a date so I can count the days
until I make your night.
baby girl, I don’t say it
if I don’t mean it,
and I’ve said a lot,
so just say when it’s convenient.
any time at all
is fine by me.
I’m not one to be stopped
by a little waiting.

oh, in this particular instance,
the villain is distance,
and how it keeps me oh so far from you.
if we could put all those miles behind us
instead of between us,
then, oh, the things I would do…
excuse me for being so blunt,
but how could I say no to that face?
so next time you’re around, perhaps passing through town,
just know you’re more than welcome at my place.

by tomorrow night, I’ll feel better,
but for now, I’m just a little cold.
oh, I’m ready for a change, and I’m ready to live,
but it seems no one wants what I’ve got to give.
I think maybe it’s time to be a go-getter,
and stop waiting on anything or anyone.
oh, I’m eager to thrive, yeah, I’m rarin’ to prosper.
I need a little time, then I’ll make you an offer…

that you can’t refuse.

I’ve been adrift too long.
I’ve thrown the excess overboard.
I think I’ve found all that I really need,
so when you’re ready, I’ll meet you on the shore…

I’ve spotted your lighthouse.
I’m heading towards your harbor.
I’m ready to dock.
you know, the waves are crashing harder than
they ever have before,
and I don’t wanna be at sea anymore.
deep down, I’m a landlubber.
plus, I’m a sucker for those bedroom eyes.

I found out right before leaving to practice that it was our potential new bass player’s birthday.if a box of Happy Hippos with a cleverly placed Post-it note doesn’t make you wanna join a band, I don’t know what does.
